ASI Marine
Remotely Operated Vehicles
ASI Marine pioneered the use of specialised remotely operated vehicles (ROV) for inspection of long water conveyance tunnels. The ASI Mantaro, a long tunnel inspection ROV, is tethered by a 10 km umbilical that transmits sonar and video data real-time to the surface via fibreoptic telemetry. ASI Marine has completed continuous surveys of 10 km from a single access point using this extreme length robotic system. Recent inspections include a 120 km water supply tunnel in Finland and a 9.8 km tailrace tunnel in New Zealand.
Dewatering poses identifiable risks in water conveyance tunnels that are affected by the reversal of significant hydrostatic pressure that can lead to structural instability. Remote inspection technology eliminates structural and human risk, while reducing the cost of spillage and lost revenue incurred during lengthy shutdowns. ROV data collection technology provides the capability of accurate dimensioning of voids or debris fields in these confined spaces. Clients have also applied this remote technology prior to dewatering to make informed decisions regarding outage scheduling and remediation strategies that minimise downtime.
ASI Marine is widely recognized for innovative solutions and effective management of water and wastewater.

Keller Ground Engineering
Compensation Grouting
Compensation grouting using soil fracturing is a process largely developed and pioneered by Keller and now offered worldwide under the trademark Soilfrac. Keller first used the process in the early seventies to successfully arrest and reverse settlement of structures that had settled out of vertical tolerance, whilst ensuring minimal disturbance to the occupants during the works.
The system was further developed by Keller to control movement caused by tunnelling operations, permitting the rapid expansion of underground transit systems in urban areas.
Keller has since used Soilfrac to control settlement on many rail tunnelling projects in weak soils in Germany, Portugal, Austria, and Canada. They also introduced the system into the UK some ten years ago, initially for work on the Jubilee Line extension and the Heathrow Express tunnels. Further UK projects carried out by Keller include the DLR extension to Lewisham, and treatment to a number of major retail centres suffering from deep seated slab settlement problems.
Keller is a world leader in compensation grouting, and offers both Soilfrac and Compaction grouting, along with a wide range of other specialist grouting systems.

Van Elle Piling Ltd
Specialist Geotechnical Engineering Contractors
Van Elle offers a wide range of foundation systems, including large diameter piling, mini piling, underpinning, drilling and grouting, rock anchors, smartfoot precast foundation and several patented foundation repair systems. Most of these techniques have been developed in house by Van Elle engineers.
Driven by the HSE requirement to clean augers on CFA piling rigs, the Van Elle piling division has invented a patented award-winning auger cleaner, which is extremely effective in hazardous clay soil conditions where falling material may cause serious injury to operatives.
The Van Elle cleaner has numerous distinct advantages over others available on the market as follows: low initial purchase price; low fitting costs; low cost and infrequent maintenance; simple mechanical operation; no requirement for electric or hydraulic power.
Details of the cleaner are available on the Van Elle stand. CFA piling is just one of the many systems including precast concrete and steel tube driven piling that Van Elle installs.
